Derek’s outBOX – November 30, 2021

Follow Our Box Shop
  1. We need to run more hours but no matter how much we try, we cannot get more than 24 hours in a day. Therefore, we have to “think outside the box.” We have handed out surveys and are requesting information about the hours that would be ideal for you:
  • Please get a survey and return no later than tomorrow morning.
  • Score from 1 to 4 based on your willingness to each accept option.
  • Our goal is to start the new year with some off-beat schedules so we can get our lead-times down, while allowing everyone to work schedules that better fit their lives.
  • Until we get all the surveys back, we cannot make any promises. You could be the only one who puts a 4 on something so just because you wrote a 4 does not mean we will be able to accommodate you. Our goal is to try to get everyone on a schedule that was scored at least a 3. See page 2 below for the survey.
  • This survey is for production workers only.

2.The Toy Drive ends on Thursday. Please bring in a toy for a kid from 1 to 18. We have 50 in the office, 46 in the plant and 10 at Paxit for 106. Our goal is 125 gifts to have a pizza party. Thank you to all who have brought in gifts. You are making some child’s Christmas more joyful.

3. Amy is leaving for Guatemala on Tuesday, December 7. Therefore, the shoe drive ends on Monday, December 6. Please bring any new or lightly used shoes for the women and kids in Guatemala who have nothing to wear on their feet. Thank you to those who have already brought some in. This really makes you realize how good we have it, even on bad days.

4. Just inside the walk-in door to the Maine Box entrance is a chandelier. I am not sure if anyone wants it. Let me know if anyone is interested by the end of the week and we can have a drawing for it next week.

    Work Schedule Survey

    VOLK PACKAGING TEAM MEMBERS,

To meet customer demand and prevent losing our current customer base, we need to increase our productivity.  At the same time, we are concerned about burnout among our production staff. Therefore, we are seeking your input on what we could do differently at least until into the first and second quarter of 2022. It could go into the 3rd and 4th Quarter if it is working well.

Please understand that we are just looking for feedback at this time. No decisions have been made other than deciding that we need to do something different. Your feedback, as well as your time with your family and friends, is important to us.
